Undergraduate Minor: Autism Spectrum Disorders
In addition to my music studies at Kutztown University I completed a minor in Autism Spectrum Disorders. This program also provided me with a certificate to work with people who have ASD. I have always had a close connection with the Autism and Special Needs communities as I grew up with my younger brother, Eric, who has Autism and is generally non-verbal. He is my best friend, and I miss him quite a lot while I am away at school. I hope to one day be his caregiver and include him as much as possible in my life and teaching career. While my studies to become a qualified teacher of those on the spectrum were quite involved, I found the process rewarding and I look forward to keeping an inclusive music classroom.
